John Aspden was appointed as Chief Executive of the Financial Supervision Commission in August 1998.
He commenced his career with the Bank of England where he worked for 15 years, in a wide range of regulatory and supervisory areas. He then moved to Hong Kong where he was an adviser to the Commissioner of Banking. Subsequently he held a senior position in retail banking and then became managing director of an investment and funds distribution company - both also in Hong Kong.
